1830s “stucco-over-stone”, underwent a three year stabilization and complete restoration. Efforts were made to retain as much of the original architectural details as possible, including the doors and windows (with casing), the base trim, and the staircase (which was only 25% intact). All floor joists were replaced with rough-sawn pine, which now support red oak flooring. A double porch was rebuilt according to the original house-plan. The deteriorating stucco was painstakingly removed by hand and completely replaced with new scored stucco. The large double-lot is situated in historic Harpers Ferry, an area characterized by its strategic importance during the American Civil War from 1861-65.
